What’s Maria saying about Harry & Meghan?
Hi Maria, thanks for your time today!!!
Tell us who you are, and what you do and a bit about your background!
I am Maria, a Ledger Analyst originally from Colchester but living in Ipswich. I have been married to John for 5 years and am Mum to 18 year old Georgia and Step-Mum to Freya. Over the past 24 years I have had the opportunity to live in several beautiful locations, the Isle of Man and New Zealand to name a few.
Are you a fan of the Royal Family?
Absolutely, always have been. I think they are a great asset to our country and a large reason why our tourism is ticking over.
What are your opinions on Megxit?
A little on the fence, whilst I applaud their desire and drive to be individual’s away from the establishment, and the want to keep Archie from the British media, I feel the way it was handled (if what we read in the press is true) to be rather unjust.
I wouldn’t be able to announce my resignation from my job before letting my employer know.
While the rules around being a royal may seem a little stuffy and old fashioned, they were some of the main representatives for the country and rules are in place for a reason.
Do you believe that there are any signs that things may not be what they seem with Harry & Meghan?
Who knows! We can all paint a smile on when is needed and people don’t know what’s really going on. They are very open and public with their affection to each other, maybe a little too much at times, which I think can make it seem like they are trying too hard.
Do you think they will still be together in 5 years time?
I hope so. If the decision to relocate was a joint one then yes I think so, however, if Harry’s hand was forced then maybe not.
What’s your opinion of Prince Harry?
From what I have seen over the years, more than what I have read, he seems a kind chap. Very loyal to his wife and child. His younger days he was definitely made the most of being young didn’t he!!??
I do believe that he is still struggling very much after the loss of his Mother. Having lost my Mum I know how hard this can be, but I was 38, he was so young and thrust into doing what the public expected when he should have been able to think of himself.
What’s your opinion of Meghan Markle?
Independent! She had developed a successful life for herself prior to marrying Harry, it must have been difficult to adjust, and I think this contributed also to the move. The causes in which she was active with in her pre royal life, remain close to her heart.
I was rather disappointed in her having come back from Canada, and a few days later heading back there and leaving her husband to deal with the fall out. Also leaving baby Archie in Canada so his British family were not able to see him prior to the move.
If she and Harry had remained senior royals, I think they would have been a huge asset, with Catherine and William to the royal family.
Do you think that Meghan is genuine, or does she have a hidden agenda?
I always like to see the good in people. I like to think that she is genuine and maybe the press have made her come across as a little misunderstood.
